Denis Menchov (Rabobank) jumped to the lead in the Giro d'Italia by gloriously winning the 12th stage, an individual time trial over more than 60 km. Menchov beat Levi Leipheimer (Astana) with 20 seconds and took over the pink jersey from Danilo di Luca (LPR).
